A Season of Love

Psalm 136:1-9 (NLT)

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords.
His faithful love endures forever.

Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters.
His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights—
His faithful love endures forever.
the sun to rule the day,
His faithful love endures forever.
and the moon and stars to rule the night.
His faithful love endures forever.

A Thought

We all want to be loved. We all want to know we have value and worth in the eyes of another. It is simply a part of our human condition. It’s how we are made.

The season of Advent is a time when we reflect on the One who loves us at all times. He is the one who created all that exists yet still loves us uniquely and individually. He is the Lord of lords and the God of all gods, yet he loves and cares for us passionately. This Lord of all set in place the stars, sun and moon, yet he sees past the celestial bodies to the very condition of our soul.

As we prepare our hearts and minds for this special time of year, we can do so with confidence, knowing that the creator of the universe desires to be in deep connection, know us intimately, and love us fully.

Prayer

May the blessing of the King, the grace of Heaven, and the love of God the Father be with us all this holiday season.

Amen.
